SENIOR PARAPLANNER
“Living a healthier, wealthier and more purposeful life with gratitude”
Leilani lives her life to make a meaningful difference to people. For her, it’s that simple.
Leilani’s first full-time job was at Centrelink where she loved being able to help people and connect them with available Government services and other providers. Recruited initially for Employment Services, she quickly expanded her skillset across the Disability, Carers, Families and Indigenous departments. Within 2 years, in addition to her customer service roles, she was selected to become a technical support officer assisting her Centrelink colleagues interpreting legislation, handling complex transactions and conducting online quality assurance checks nationwide. She remained with Centrelink for 5 years before seeking out her next adventure.
At age 25, Leilani was requisitioned by the US Department of Defense to work in the Middle East as a US Army Civilian Contractor. Within a few short months, she was leading a specialised Logistics division responsible for compiling reports documenting the loss, theft, damage and destruction of US Government assets. She remained in the Middle East for 4 years and was fortunate enough to travel around the world and experience different cultures.
Returning to Australia and unsure of what to do next, Leilani commenced employment at a boutique Financial Planning practice as an administration assistant. She studied while working full time before being offered the position of in-house paraplanner. She successfully managed the insurance department and remained with the practice for 6 years before resigning after the birth of her second child. Looking to keep her mind active whilst raising a young family, Leilani started Paraplanner Pro in 2016. A small business that allows her the flexibility to balance her two loves: Family + Financial Planning.
James is the engine room of the Paraplanner Pro team. He is also known as our nightshift that helps us accommodate express SOAs and simply, the man that gets it done. Growing up in Cairns, James has a “can-do” attitude, intelligence and empathy that makes him such an integral part of our team.
James started his career at Australia Post in his teenage years working as a Retail Customer Service Officer at his family’s Licensed Post Office after school. With an eye for detail, James performed high value transactions accurately, assisted customers with mail lodgements and conducted a range of identity service transactions. While still in his teens, he would oversee the operations of the Post Office as Relief Manager for several months of the year.
In his late teens, interested in seeing more of remote Australia and the opportunity to diversify his skills, James transferred to the Cape York communities of Aurukun and Kowanyama where he managed their Post Offices, which are the lifeblood of the people it serves. His role in Aurukun also included becoming a Skytrans Airline Agent booking flights to and from Cairns for Indigenous customers. James streamlined the processes in these remote Post Offices in line with others around the country which made the transition for new personnel easier.
James started with Paraplanner in 2018 assisting with data entry initially. His accuracy and ability to learn quickly enabled him to compile Statements of Advice and Records of Advice and bespoke spreadsheets for our clients. He is currently studying in addition to keeping the Paraplanner Pro team moving.
In his spare time, James enjoys catching up with friends, international travel and gaming.
